Lab Space:
Currently, we have three labs: MEL B231. MEB 111 and MEB 113.
The MEL B231 lab is a bio-safety level II lab which is used for human bone subject related research work, while the other two labs in MEB are used for other projects.

Mechanical Testing Machine: MTS Insight II
Featuring a tabletop, single-column design, MTS Insight Models 2 Electromechanical Testing System provide a wide range of testing capabilities in a compact, ergonomic frame. This system is ideal for low-force applications like tensile, compression, bend, peel, and shear tests. The MTS Insight Model 2 kN system features a maximum force capacity of 2 kN. This model combine an elegantly simple drive system, state-of-the-art electronics, and an intuitive user-interface to produce accurate and reliable results. As with all MTS Insight systems, TestWorks can be configured to meet your specific test requirements. These systems consistently deliver superior quality results. |

Methodology
We applied various methods and techniques to characterize biological and nano materials in a comprehensive way. We measure mechanical properties by tensile, compression, bending, shear testing and nanoindentation. Micro-CT(Beckman ITG group), SEM, TEM(MRL), Ultrasonic imaging are used to assess the structure information while and chemical composition is analyzed by EDS, FTIR(Chemical Imaging and Structures Laboratory), DEXA.
